When Guru´s can´t control their own Ego´s.

This is an email i sent to the owner of a web page whom Ram Chandra seems to have covered over his truth with in order to sell incense and gain money on the back of "the poor orphans who he is saving from the world". He doesn´t appear to have told him the whole truth.

This blog is in order to provide information to those interested in the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Orphanage, in Thankot, Kathmandu, Nepal.

It is also for those who have experience of this place to post any information they may consider to be of value to others.

I hope that somehow, amongst this world of corruption, together we can help children to be able to grow up without fear.

Heartfelt Regards

Dear Sir-Madam,

I think it my duty to mention that i stayed in the Sri Aurobindo Ashram for 4 months as a teacher and also as a live in. The first month i thought it was a paradise. i loved it. although there was always some uneasiness. The second month I began to get to know people a little better and understand psychological currents passing through the ashram. The third month i understood the problem. There are two types of children in Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Matatierta, Kathmandu, a 50 percent are orphans, and 50 are direct relations of ram chandra, borthers, sisters, neices and newphews, and in laws.

The family members are treated differently to the orphans who are given the worst jobs and are, and I can vouch for the truth of this terrible accusation, beaten. I have helped 2 children "escape" from the orphanage, but it is a difficult situation since they really do have no family at all, and no social means of surviving in an atmosphere other than that of the repressed and controlled environment of the ashram.

The girls that left are now in a form of deep depression. it is difficult for them to come to terms with the abuse that they have had to endure, not only as orphans and the terrbile stories of seeing their parents killed, but then to be mistreated in an orphanage.

it is difficult to know what is the real truth. for in western cultures we have learnt that violence is not necessary in the education of children. while i was there i and a dutch girl taught both the ashram and the neighbouring schools a workshop to teachers, in which we explained that teaching doesn´t need the use of a stick to maintain discipline. in my parents generations capital punishment was quite normal in schools. Nepal is also somewhat behind in many developmental areas.

i was eventually thrown out of the ashram because i had befriended the children and they came to me with their cuts and bruises. I do no exagerate when i say that some of them had blood coming from wounds produced by sticks.

however it gave me the chance to know that it is possible to have an atmosphere of love, friendship and team spirit in Nepal, Kathmandu, at the beautifully run kumary house orphanage tdhf.ibernet.com. This is being directed with love by Toni a catalan.

I really don´t know if my words are necessary. if it is something that i should be explaining, since these children in the sir aurobindo ashram are being educated, even though in an boarderline agressive authoritarian way, they are given accomodation, and to an extent food. though the food is not varied and doesn´t not provide necessary vitamins (while the telephone bill of Ram Chandra is equal to the amount spent on food for the 60 children). i lost 15 kilos staying there. (35 pounds more or less).

If my words bother you, i apologise. but i think it my duty to at least explain my experience and hope that things have since changed.
If you have any questions please do not hestitate to contact me.

Kind Regards
Julia
